About the arrangement

Pink Floyd’s iconic song “Shine On You Crazy Dimaond” have been occuping me since I was a teenager. The central piece in the band’s 1975 LP Wish You Were Here, “Shine On” (which lasts for 26 minutes) is one of their most evocative and emotional works. It was inspired by the tragedy of Syd Barrett, the band’s original writer, singer, and guitarist who has lost his hold on reality after recording merely one album with the band. This arrangement, I hope, brings forth the music’s power and intercate textures in a new way, given the absense of the key instruments in the original version: electric guitars, synthesizers, and drums.
